Ty Jerome Says Cavaliers ‘Aren’t Really Worried’ About What National Media Says About Them

Ty Jerome told Whistle Sports that the Cleveland Cavaliers “aren’t really worried” about what the national NBA media says about them.

The Cavaliers are the No. 1 seed in the East. They led the NBA in points per game and offensive rating in the regular season.

However, most of the national media doesn’t believe Cleveland can win it all this year, which doesn’t bother Jerome and his teammates.

The Cavaliers will face the Atlanta Hawks or Miami Heat in the first round of this year’s postseason.

Jerome is in his second season with the Cavaliers. He played 70 games during the regular season and was terrific, averaging 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 51.6% from the field, 43.9% from beyond the arc and 87.2% from the free-throw line.

Cleveland is fully healthy heading into the postseason, something head coach Kenny Atkinson is very proud about.

“Just for Donovan Mitchell and really for our whole team, that was the most important thing — in terms of getting ready for these playoffs — was going into it healthy,” Atkinson said. “Really proud of the plan we had, how we managed guys, how they managed themselves, our performance team, our medical team. Tt’s such a group effort. There’s a lot of planning that goes into it. Now I feel really relieved. It’s probably more of a relief that we kind of did it. I think the guys are in a good place, ready to go.”

Cleveland lost to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2024 playoffs. The franchise hasn’t been to the NBA Finals since 2018. LeBron James, of course, was still on the team back then.

Cavaliers fans will be watching Friday’s game between the Hawks and Heat to see which team will face Mitchell and Co. in the postseason.
