Jazz To Extend Pre-Draft Workout Invite To Bronny James

The Utah Jazz want to bring in Bronny James for a workout ahead of the NBA Draft, according to Krysten Peek of Yahoo Sports.Bronny James, USC, NBA Draft

James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, is coming off a disappointing freshman season after a heart scare at USC. But scouts and other league executives love his upside and would be willing to help develop him.

The Jazz reportedly would be eyeing Bronny in the second round, with the No. 32 overall pick. The Los Angeles Lakers, who have picks Nos. 17 and 55, are also said to have a strong interest, given that is the team for which his father is currently employed.

He is also a basketball celebrity of the greatest kind — a good person whose father is considered by many to be the greatest player of all time. Yet Bronny James told NBA reporters he aims to make his own name.

“Honestly, I feel like this is a serious business,” Bronny said. “I don’t think there would be a thought of, ‘I’m just drafting this kid because I’m going to get his dad.’ I don’t think a GM would really allow that. I think I’ve put in the work and if I get drafted it will be because of not only the player but also the person I am.”

No father has played with or against his son in the NBA. Bronny has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. He has until May 29 to decide whether to stay in the draft or return to college.

“My job is just to play a role and play the right way, make sure I get my teammates involved and stuff like that,” Bronny said from the NBA Combine. “But again, I was just super grateful for the opportunity to be out there. I felt like I should be out there.”

Bronny is represented by agent Rich Paul, who very well could steer where his client plays.
