The Golden State Warriors are taking a look-see at free agent forward Bruno Caboclo, agent Daniel Hazan told Sports Channel in Israel, via BasketNews.
“He will train with the Golden State Warriors until Thursday with the aim of signing a contract, and he believes he will succeed,” Hazan told Sports Channel.
Along with the Warriors, Caboclo could sign with Israeli club Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv, Hazan said.
“We are in negotiations, we are making good progress. It’s definitely an option worth keeping,” Hazan said.
Caboclo, 28, is 6-foot-9 and played for the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, and Houston Rockets from 2014-21, averaging 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds.
He spent last season with Serbia club Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, averaging 9.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 27 EuroLeague games.
After that, he played with Brazil in the Paris Olympics, where he recorded averages of 17.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks in four games. That included a 33-point, 17-rebound outburst against Japan. He also went for 30 points and six boards against Team USA.
As for the Warriors, there’s no doubt they are seeking more veteran help.
They have undergone a bit of a facelift with Klay Thompson being traded to the Dallas Mavericks, and Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson and De’Anthony Melton highlighting a cast of newcomers.
Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and coach Steve Kerr, of course, remain.
Golden State won the title in 2022, but has failed to reach 50 wins in either of the past two seasons and didn’t make the playoffs last year.
