The Warriors and Klay Thompson already had a cloudy future together beyond this season, and now it seems like it’s gotten a lot darker.
Thompson and other starters were benched during the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ loss to the Suns on Tuesday — and the Warriors almost immediately played better.
But that was one game. The future is what is on the minds of the Warriors and their fans, and perhaps Thompson.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Thompson was offered a contract extension of two years and $48 million before the season. That deal has since been taken off the table, Charania said on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back.
Is this the end of the Thompson era with Golden State? Multiple sources told Hoops Wire they believe so. Now, perhaps Thompson and the Warriors are starting to believe it, too.
