Forward Draymond Green requested an X-ray on his ankle after the Game 2 loss to the Kings on Monday, per Marc Spears of Andscape/ESPN.
Green said he thought the ankle may be injured after it was grabbed by Kings big man Domantas Sabonis. Green then stepped on Sabonis’ chest and was issued a flagrant 2 foul and ejected from the game.
“My leg got grabbed. Second time in two nights,” Green told reporters. “Referees just watch it. I gotta lay on my foot somewhere and I’m not the most flexible person, so it’s not stretching that far. … I can only step so far with someone pulling my leg away.”
Green exchanged words with some fans after the incident, though he remained on the floor at the time and it’s not considered something the league will review. He is not expected to be suspended.
The defending champions trail the series, 2-0, with Game 3 scheduled for Thursday at Golden State. It marks the first time the Warriors have trailed a series 2-0 in the Stephen Curry era.
“It’s exciting, right?” Green said of the deficit. “It’s a new challenge. After the game, I was thinking that: This is something we haven’t seen yet. And we’ve conquered all the rest of them, so why not go conquer this one? It will be a lot of fun.”‘
Meanwhile, Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson came to Green’s defense.
”What are you gonna do when someone grabs your foot when you’re running full speed?” Thompson said.
