Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green told NBA reporters that he doesn’t “give a damn” about the surging Houston Rockets.

The Rockets are only one game back of the Warriors for the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings.

Seeds 1-6 automatically qualify for the 2024 playoffs, while seeds 7-10 play in the play-in tournament.

The Warriors are 36-34. They are 4-6 in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Rockets (35-35) are on an eight-game winning streak.

“We keep losing games,” Green said after the Warriors lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves. “Especially games we should win. We lose a lot of games that we should win.”

The Warriors are seventh in the NBA in points per game and 19th in points per game allowed.

“I don’t think we have great habits,” Green said. “We’re a very quiet team.”

The Warriors are in danger of missing the play-in tournament. Their next two games are against the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.

“The NBA is such a weird league,” Warriors superstar Stephen Curry said. “It just takes one little spark to get yourself going. You see what Houston is doing right now. They got one little spark and they’ve run off eight, nine in a row. We’re capable of doing it. Until we run out of games, that’s the message.”

The Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2023 playoffs in six games. It was the first time Golden State didn’t reach the NBA Finals after making the postseason in the Steve Kerr era, which began in 2014-15.

Even though Curry is still one of the best players in the NBA, the Warriors aren’t title contenders anymore.

“As a player, you know when you’re messing up and making mistakes,” Curry said. “Then you go watch the film and it’s 10 times worse. Every little play, we’re one step behind. It was play after play after play. It was difficult to watch.”
