Warriors’ Draymond Green says he’s not worried about Giannis Antetokounmpo trade

Draymond Green isn’t pretending the noise isn’t there. He just isn’t sweating it.

With speculation growing around the Warriors’ interest in Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Green made it clear he’s not pacing the floor as the trade deadline approaches. Far from it.

“I’ve been here for 14 years,” Green said, via ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving. But if I’m traded, that’s part of the business.

“I ain’t losing no sleep though. I slept great last night.”

That about sums up where Golden State is right now. Everything is on the table. Everyone, too, aside from Stephen Curry.

League sources say there’s a real understanding inside the organization that the Warriors are exploring what a post-comfort era looks like as Curry’s prime years wind down.

If a swing for Antetokounmpo is possible, Golden State will at least examine it. And to make the math work, a contract like Green’s $25.8 million or Jimmy Butler’s $54.1 million would almost certainly need to be part of the outgoing package.

Green, for his part, knows the math. He also knows his value.

At 35, the offense comes and goes, but the role hasn’t changed. He’s still the starting power forward. Still the emotional center. Still one of the league’s most disruptive defenders.

In Friday’s home loss to Detroit, he finished with 15 points, seven assists and three rebounds, looking very much like a guy who still expects to matter.

Asked how closely he’s staying looped in with general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and owner Joe Lacob, Green didn’t make it sound dramatic.

“I’m not going to go up there like, ‘Yo, tell me what y’all doing,’” he said. “I’ll be the same as I always am. My phone is always on. I’m always willing to collaborate.”
