The Warriors were 2-7 last season without Steph Curry and they’re not doing so hot without him this year.
Minus Curry on Sunday, the Warriors dropped a 110-108 decision to the visiting Spurs, a game in which Keldon Johnson scored off a missed free throw with three-tenths of a second left to seal the deal.
So that hurts for the Warriors, as eight of their final 11 are on the road. Curry is expected to have his left foot injury re-evaluated in a little less than two weeks.
He told reporters he intends to return before the playoffs. “I’m an optimist,” he said.
Instead of Curry leading the way, the Warriors received 28 points from Jordan Poole, and 24 more from Klay Thompson.
Thompson was actually hoping for 27, but he missed a 3-pointer to win it as time expired. Meanwhile, Draymond Green returned to the starting lineup — but was ejected in the third quarter.
The Warriors are now in third place in the Western Conference, 1.5 games behind the second-place Grizzlies and 10.5 back of the NBA-leading Suns.
