Andrew Wiggins’ name is circling back to familiar territory.
The Warriors and Heat have held exploratory conversations about a potential trade that would bring Wiggins back to Golden State, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line and Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Wiggins was sent to Miami in last season’s Jimmy Butler blockbuster, but with Butler sidelined after an ACL tear and Jonathan Kuminga’s future in Golden State increasingly uncertain, the Warriors are again scanning the wing market.
And Wiggins still has believers in the building.
League sources told Siegel that Golden State continues to value the former No. 1 overall pick, viewing him as a viable two-way fit if the roster shifts around him. Any Warriors proposal would likely begin with Kuminga, a player Miami has shown some interest in.
The complications are layered.
Miami is believed to be seeking at least one first-round pick in any Wiggins deal, and it remains unclear whether Golden State is willing to include that level of draft equity.
Salary matching is another hurdle, with the Warriors pressed against the second apron and needing to add money beyond Kuminga’s $22.5 million to absorb Wiggins’ $28.2 million contract.
There is also the Giannis Antetokounmpo factor. Miami would prefer to deploy Wiggins’ salary in a star-level pursuit, and both the Heat and Warriors have been linked to Antetokounmpo. That overlap could cool any side deal.
