The Warriors have to do something, anything to try to get their season turned around. Because right now, they just aren’t very good (most nights).
One way to do that is via trade, and lucky for them, there just happens to be some pretty decent players available. One of them reportedly is Raptors power forward Pascal Siakam, who is expected to be moved before the Feb. 8 deadline.
And according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Warriors do indeed have an interest in Siakam. But it might take forward Jonathan Kuminga and others to complete such a deal. Golden State may not want to do that.
Of course, before any of that, the Warriors will have to decide if they want to commit long-term money to Siakam — an unrestricted free agent in July. Then and only then can they make an offer.
So, as Wojnarowski explained, it will be a “difficult pathway” for the Warriors if they intend to make a serious run at Siakam.
Besides all that, there are plenty of others interested. The Pacers are believed to be the leaders in a bid for Siakam, and the Mavericks are said to be not far behind. Toronto would just take the best offer, not really caring where he ends up.
If that’s Indiana, Dallas, Golden State or another not yet mentioned team … well, so be it.
Could Pascal Siakam be a good trade option for the Warriors to turn their season around? 🤔 @marcjspears | @wojespn pic.twitter.com/HZluHdoQmq
