The Warriors intend to sign forwards Javan Johnson and rookie Donta Scott to Exhibit 10 contracts for training camp, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Johnson, 25, is 6-foot-6 and spent last season in camp with the Warriors but was released before the start of the regular season. He finished his college career at DePaul after playing at Troy State and Iowa State, then went undrafted in 2023.
Johnson spent all of last season as a rookie with thew Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League, appearing in 48 Showcase Cup and regular season games combine, compiling averages of 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.
Scott is a 6-7 rookie who went undrafted out of Maryland this past June. He averaged 11.2 points and 4.7 rebounds as a senior with the Terrapins last season.
Both players were likely signed for the purpose of playing for Santa Cruz.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
The Warriors have 19 players on their preseason roster. The league limit is 21, so Golden State won’t need to make another move.
