The Warriors have joined the Kings as teams with trade interest in 76ers guard/forward Matisse Thybulle, per Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Thybulle is viewed as no longer being untouchable in trades, Pompey added. This report follows an earlier one from Marc Stein of The Stein Line, who first noted the Kings’ interest.
Thybulle, 25, is 6-foot-5 and in his fourth NBA season, all with Philadelphia. He is averaging career lows in nearly every statistical category, including just 12.1 minutes, in 45 games.
But neither the Warriors nor Kings would be looking to add him for scoring purposes. Instead, both teams are looking for a top-notch wing defender, and that just happens to be Thybulle’s specialty. He has made the NBA’s second-team All-Defensive team twice in his three NBA seasons.
It’s hard to know what either the Warriors or Kings may be willing to part to land a Thybulle-type. The Sixers are likely on the lookout for a reserve big man, so that may be a consideration for anyone that is contemplating a trade with them.
