The Warriors still have yet to hire a new head of basketball operations to replace Bob Myers, who stepped down in late May.
But they do seem to at least have a plan.
Per Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, star guard Steph Curry would like the Warriors to run it back as much as possible. That means a return for Curry, shooting guard Klay Thompson and forward Draymond Green, eligible for free agency and expected to test it. There is no doubt that coach Steve Kerr will remain, too.
“I think the most likely scenario is that the Warriors keep most of this together for at least one more season,” Kawakami wrote in his latest mailbag. “That’s what Curry wants. His opinion sort of matters.”
If the Warriors were to look to shed salary, and they just might, they could always attempt to trade guard Jordan Poole, who was mostly a non-factor in the playoffs.
“I don’t think the Warriors would have to do a straight money dump if they want to move Poole,” Kawakami wrote.
As has been reported, the Warriors could very well just promote VP of basketball operations Mike Dunleavy Jr. into Myers’ old job.
