The Warriors haven’t completely ruled out the idea of exploring a trade for Anthony Davis, but any realistic pathway appears narrow at best.
According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, Warriors sources remain “staunchly” opposed to moving Jimmy Butler or Draymond Green in any deal. That stance alone makes an AD trade highly unlikely.
The Dallas Mavericks do have interest in Jonathan Kuminga, per league sources, but Kuminga’s $22.5 million salary falls far short of Davis’ $54-million figure. With Golden State operating right up against the second apron, matching money without sacrificing a core veteran would be nearly impossible.
Amick adds that it was Dallas that initiated preliminary conversations, suggesting the Warriors weren’t actively hunting for a way to land Davis. While Davis also has been linked to the Hawks, the Mavericks don’t appear locked into moving him just yet.
In other words, this looks less like a brewing deal and more like Dallas checking the landscape — with Golden State listening, but not bending.
