Warriors made deadline push for Kawhi Leonard, could revisit

The Warriors didn’t sit still at the trade deadline and even tried to make a splash.

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Golden State made a “determined” run at Kawhi Leonard before the deadline, though the Clippers ultimately held firm.

Still, the effort says plenty. The Warriors remain in win-now mode, and with Stephen Curry in the later stages of his career, the urgency isn’t going anywhere. That’s why this may not be over.

If Leonard becomes available this summer (and he could), Golden State is expected to be among the teams to watch. A move of that magnitude would align with the organization’s approach in recent years. Aggressive. Calculated. All-in.

Nothing came together this time. But the intent was clear, and it would only make sense for the Warriors to try again. Next time, the Clippers may be a little more open to the idea, too.
