The Warriors are adjusting to life without Jimmy Butler, but do not expect a panic move.
Golden State is expected to explore roster tweaks after Butler’s season-ending ACL tear, yet there is no indication the franchise is gearing up for another blockbuster. Butler is not being shopped, and a swing for Anthony Davis is not part of the current plan, reports Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal.
Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. has publicly downplayed the idea of moving Butler, signaling the team still views him as a piece for next season rather than a short-term trade chip.
“I don’t envision that,” Dunleavy said of a Butler trade, noting the hope is Butler can provide a similar boost next year once healthy.
That stance tracks internally. Butler is under contract for major money this season and next, making a flip far more complicated than past injury-driven moves. This is not a De’Anthony Melton situation. The Warriors are thinking long-term, not cutting bait.
As for Davis, league sources say Golden State is not pushing in that direction before the February 5 deadline. The salary, the commitment, and the timing do not line up.
Jonathan Kuminga remains a name to monitor, with interest from Dallas, Sacramento, and the Lakers. Afseth’s sources describe him as staying professional, prepared, and engaged even during earlier stretches outside the rotation. His recent play has only reinforced the upside.
