Stephen Curry showed no lingering effects from the quad injury that sidelined him for five games, returning Friday night with a familiar jolt to the Warriors’ offense.

Golden State still fell to Minnesota, but Curry poured in 39 points in 32 minutes, knocking down 14 of his 28 shots.

“Started to feel normal again,” Curry said, via ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “Individually, it was a good first game back just to get my lungs back and feel like myself.”

Curry wasted little time. He scored 10 points in his first eight minutes, then helped erase a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter with 14 more, including three three-pointers.

He remained in San Francisco during the team’s recent road trip to focus on treatment and also took part in a scrimmage Wednesday night.

“He looked great,” coach Steve Kerr said. “The movement, the flow. I asked him how he was feeling after the first eight-minute run and he said, ‘I feel great.’”

Curry Backs Kuminga: Curry also addressed the situation surrounding Jonathan Kuminga, who has been out of the rotation the past two games, according to Nick Friedell of The Athletic.

The veteran guard voiced support for the young forward and emphasized patience.

“We still have high hopes that he’ll impact our team this year,” Curry said. “You can’t lose your spirit when things aren’t going your way. You’re a game or two away from it coming back to you.”

Curry added that staying engaged is critical, noting that opportunities often return quickly in the NBA.

Crowded Backcourt Looms: Curry’s return adds to a growing logjam in the Golden State backcourt, as Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle points out.

The Warriors currently carry nine guards, with De’Anthony Melton recently making his season debut and Pat Spencer carving out a role.

“We have a lot of guys now,” Kerr said. “It’s a great problem to have, but it’s not an easy problem to solve. There’s not a ton of separation between our players.”

Kerr acknowledged the lack of a set rotation and said the situation will evolve.

Draymond Set to Rejoin Team: Draymond Green is expected to rejoin the Warriors on Sunday in Portland, though his availability remains uncertain, according to Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Green has missed the past three games for personal reasons, and Kerr said the mid-foot sprain Green aggravated last week has healed.

“It’s just a question of whether Rick (Celebrini) feels comfortable putting him out there,” Kerr said. “We’ll assess him there.”
