The Warriors assigned veteran guard Cory Joseph to the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League, then recalled him several hours later, likely in an attempt to give him some extra practice time.
Joseph, 32, is in his first season with Golden State after signing a one-year deal in July. He’s appeared in just four games, though, averaging less than a point per game.
Along with struggling with a back issue early in training camp, Joseph has plenty of competition for minutes in the backcourt, starting with Chris Paul. Gary Payton II and Moses Moody have also been at least even — if not ahead of — Joseph on the depth chart.
Joseph spent the past two-plus seasons with the Pistons. He appeared in 62 games last year and averaged 6.9 points and 3.5 assists. He has also spent time with the Spurs, Pacers, Raptors and Kings since being the No. 29 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
