The Warriors have waived forward Donta Scott, per the NBA transactions log. The move comes one week after Scott signed an Exhibit 10 contract.
Scott is a 6-7 rookie who went undrafted out of Maryland this past June. He averaged 11.2 points and 4.7 rebounds as a senior with the Terrapins last season. He then played for the Warriors in both the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League.
Scott very well could still be headed for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
Golden State has 19 players on the preseason roster, with the league limit set at 21. It rcently signed rookie wing Blake Hinson to a similar camp deal.
The Warriors finished 10th in the Western Conference standings last season, finishing 46-36, before losing to the Kings in the play-in tournament.
