The Warriors intend to sign center Usman Garuba to a two-way contract ahead of training camp, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Garuba, 21, appeared in 75 games with the Rockets last season, averaging 3.0 points and 4.1 rebounds. He was acquired by the Thunder in a July trade with the Hawks in a deal that sent guard Patty Mills to Atlanta.
Garuba also spent his rookie year of 2021-22 with the Rockets and also played plenty for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the G League that season.
He was selected with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after playing for Spanish power Real Madrid, where he was selected as a EuroLeague Rising Star.
As Charania noted, Garuba averaged 8.2 points and 4.0 rebounds for Spain at the FIBA World Cup earlier this month.
The Warriors are looking to fill out their roster, auditioning multiple veteran free agents (full post) and bringing in center Dwight Howard for a meeting (full post).
