Warriors’ Steph Curry: ‘As The Kids Say, We’re Very Mid Right Now’

After a blazing start to the season and some high hopes, the Golden State Warriors look like a team that may want to consider (gasp) tanking for the rest of the season.Stephen Curry, NBA, Warriors

The latest example came in a 113-95 home beatdown, delivered by the NBA-leading Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.

Today, the Warriors stand at 16-16, having lost seven of their last nine. They seem to be going nowhere but down. And there likely isn’t another trade out there that can put them over the top.

Super, duper star Stephen Curry seems to realize all this. And if not all of it, then at least that the Warriors appear mediocre at best.

“As the kids say, we’re very mid right now,” Curry told reporters, via Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area. “We’re just very average.”

Curry has just two points at halftime before finishing with a meaningless 11. As a team, the Warriors took 24 shots in the second quarter — and made just four.

Or how about this: Since starting the season at 12-3, the Warriors have gone 4-13. They seem to lack on-court chemistry and as if the days of Curry and Draymond Green leading them to great things are long gone.

“You are what your record says you are,” coach Steve Kerr said. “I think Bill Parcells said that, and I think there’s a lot of truth to that. We’ve obviously fallen from that early start where we had a lot of momentum and a lot of good flow to our game.

“I know, because I’ve seen it — the way we started — I know it’s in us and I know we can get there. But right now, it’s a struggle for sure.”
