Warriors optimistic Stephen Curry will return during road swing

Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed optimism that guard Stephen Curry could rejoin the team during the current road trip, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.

Curry suffered a pelvic contusion on Thursday after a hard fall in a game against Toronto. He was unable to play in Saturday’s 124-115 loss to Atlanta and is set to be reevaluated on Monday.

The game against Atlanta marked the start of the Warriors’ six-game road swing, which includes upcoming matchups with Miami on Tuesday, New Orleans on Friday, and San Antonio on Sunday. The team will also visit Memphis and Los Angeles to face the Lakers before concluding the trip.

  • In other Warriors news, Blake Hinson has emerged as a standout player for the NBA G League’s Santa Cruz Warriors. Hinson, who went undrafted last year, spent time with the Lakers on a two-way contract before being waived in September. He later joined the Warriors’ training camp on an Exhibit 10 deal and was waived again, eventually landing in Santa Cruz.
  • The 25-year-old forward is averaging 16.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Hinson praised the Warriors’ player development program, telling Spencer Davies of RG.org, “They’ll sacrifice a little bit of winning to get your player development correct — but they’re not gonna do it for long. I appreciate this program for being lenient with me early, and I’m reaping the benefits of it now.”
  • Quinten Post, who was drafted late in the second round last year, has also become an important part of the Warriors’ rotation. Post, who initially expected to spend much of his rookie season in the G League, is now a candidate for All-Rookie honors. “I was focused on winning the G League at that point,” Post said, reflecting on his mindset after being drafted. “Playing wasn’t even something I was thinking about because I was focused on the G League. That’s crazy how fast it went after that.” Post has averaged 8.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game.
