Grizzlies
- Star point guard Ja Morant will be a game-time decision for Game 2 vs. the Lakers on Wednesday, coach Taylor Jenkins said, via Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
- Morant suffered no ligament damage but rather a reaggravation to a right hand contusion, Jenkins said, via Chris Herrington of the Daily Memphian.
- There doesn’t seem to be a lot of optimism from the Grizzlies that Morant will be able to play in Game 2, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
- Earlier in the day, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Morant’s status for Game 2 is “very much up in the air.” (Full post.)
Nuggets
Nuggets guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope responded to comments made by Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, who suggested Denver knew Minnesota’s plays in Game 1.
“We did know all their plays,” Caldwell-Pope said, via Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports. “We knew exactly where they were going to be and how they were going to do it.”
- Coach Michael Malone said the Nuggets have to keep the intensity going in Game 2. “When you lose by 29, we all know what’s about to happen,” Malone said, via Wind. “Some coaches will say, ‘We have to match it.’ Screw matching it. Exceed it. Exceed it.”
- Center Nikola Jokic didn’t participate in the shooting competition after practice, but indicated he’s not worried about his bothersome wrist, per Wind. “(Aaron Gordon) always wins,” Jokic told reporters.
Rockets
Former Celtics coach Ime Udoka is set to interview for the Rockets’ vacancy, per Kelly Iko of The Athletic.
Udoka is one of many candidates linked to the job — joining the likes of former Lakers coach Frank Vogel, 76ers assistant Sam Cassell and Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson, among others.
