Wild NBA Trade Proposal Sends Mavericks’ Anthony Davis To Hornets

The Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis and Max Christie in February. It was a terrible trade, as the Lakers made the playoffs as the third seed in the West, while the Mavericks missed the postseason after making the NBA Finals last year.

Dallas star point guard Kyrie Irving tore his left ACL in March and underwent season-ending surgery. Irving, Davis and Klay Thompson only played one game together.

The Mavericks’ brutal season netted them the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Dallas somehow won the 2025 draft lottery and is expected to draft Duke’s Cooper Flagg.

Nico Harrison loves Davis. He’s not going to trade him unless the star big man requests a trade.

That’s why this NBA trade proposal from Bleacher Report is wild:

Anthony Davis to the Charlotte Hornets for Miles Bridges, Jusuf Nurkić, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2031 first-round pick

“An about-face and AD trade just aren’t happening under his regime. But ownership has put some guardrails around Harrison since the deal, generally trying to keep him out of the public eye and monitoring his work a little more carefully going forward. The guardrails seem high enough to wonder why he’s even still there,” Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report wrote.

“And if Dallas (particularly governor Patrick Dumont) realize the best path forward is a new lead executive and a rebuild around eventual No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, an AD trade could at least partially make up for the fact that Harrison didn’t extract near enough value out of the Luka deal. The trade above is exactly that kind of move.”

Davis is 32 years old. He will make $54,126,380 next season and $58,456,490 in 2026-27.

A future Hall of Famer, Davis has a player option worth $62,786,601 for the 2027-28 season. The Chicago native has played for the New Orleans Pelicans, Lakers and Mavericks. He has career averages of 24.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 blocks.

Davis only appeared in nine regular-season games with the Mavericks because of an adductor injury. He put up 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.6 steals and 2.2 blocks per game.
