Free agent wing Will Barton and forward/center Darius Bazley have signed with the Guandong Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, the team announced.
Barton, 33, is 6-5 and did not play in the NBA this past season — though he did have some runs in Spain and Puerto Rico. He appeared in 52 games combined with the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors in 2022-23, compiling averages of 6.8 points and 37 percent shooting on 3-pointers. He has played everything from point guard to small forward during his career.
Barton was acquired by the Wizards before the 2022-23 season in a trade with the Denver Nuggets that also involved guard Monte Morris. With Washington, Barton averaged 7.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 40 games — his lowest in each statistical category since 2014-15.
Originally selected with the No. 40 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, he spent the first three seasons of his career with the Portland Trail Blazers. He reportedly worked out for the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors a year ago, but went unsigned.
Bazley, 24, is 6-10 and was waived by the Jazz in July. He originally signed with Utah on March 12 and appeared in six games, averaging 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Rather than play college basketball or join the G League, Bazley opted to work out on his own following his high school career, then enter the NBA Draft when eligible. He actually was selected by the Jazz with the No. 23 overall pick in 2019, then traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder a week later.
Bazley was traded to the Brooklyn Nets last summer and then waived before camp. He also played for the Delaware Blue Coats of the G League last season.
