The Wizards have given star shooting guard Bradley Beal the chance to speak to opposing teams to which he may desire a trade, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT.
As reported previously, the Wizards and Beal are discussing potential trade scenarios, with new team president Michael Winger and the front office hitting the ground running.
Sources have told Hoops Wire that Beal remains open to returning to Washington, as he continues to hold the organization in high regard. But clearly, he is also open to exploring other options.
The Heat, Kings and Bucks are among the teams who are said to have an interest in Beal.
All three fit the criteria that Beal is considering, per Haynes, who reported that Beal is only interested to moving on to a contender.
One league executive told Haynes that the possibility of Beal being moved seems realistic. Others have told Hoops Wire they have a hard time envisioning Beal returning to the Wizards — though the no-trade clause in his contract could make a suitable deal difficult.
Along with owning the No. 8 overall draft pick, the Wizards are facing a decision on Beal, as well as forward Kyle Kuzma, who’s expected to opt out of his contract and enter free agency.
Neither the Wizards nor Beal have commented publicly on the potential for a trade.
Beal is still owed more than $207 million on his contract, which lasts through the 2026-27 season. He is represented by agent Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports.
