It’s widely expected that Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma will decline his $13 million player option for next season and enter free agency.
What has yet to be determined is if the Wizards intend to bring him back, or utilize him as part of a sign-and-trade arrangement. One thing that we can be sure of is that the Wizards hope to not let Kuzma walk for nothing.
Washington now has an entirely new front office in head of basketball operations Michael Winger and GM Will Dawkins.
Per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, it’s “not yet clear” what the Wizards intend to do when it comes to Kuzma. They could always re-sign him to a better contract, too. But again, it seems very much up in the air.
The Wizards’ priorities for the time being seem to be what they will do with the No. 8 overall pick in the NBA Draft, as well as shooting guard Bradley Beal, reportedly being made available in trade talks.
But Kuzma is one other riddle Winger and the new front office will have to answer before the start of next season. So far, the situation remains as cloudy as ever.
