Multiple teams have expressed trade interest in Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma ahead of the Feb. 8 deadline to make a deal, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Washington would be seeking multiple first-round picks in any trade for Kuzma.
“Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has drawn exploratory trade interest from several teams around the league, league sources told HoopsHype, and that interest could intensify with teams missing out on Pascal Siakam,” Scotto wrote. “Following reports that Washington wants two first-round picks to potentially part with Kuzma, there is further clarity and caveats to that. The Wizards would need future first-round picks beyond the 2024 draft with the potential to become lottery picks to consider parting with their best player, league sources told HoopsHype.”
League sources told Hoops Wire that the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors are among those who could have an interest in Kuzma. Neither Memphis nor San Antonio would want to part with potential lottery picks, though, sources added.
Kuzma, 28, is averaging 22.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists, shooting 46 percent overall and 35 percent on 3-pointers. He’s set to earn $25.6 million this season after signing a four-year, $90 million contract in 2022.
The Wizards have been near the bottom of the league all season and are looking to clean house. That said, there’s no sense of urgency to part ways with Kuzma, given his professional approach and descending contract, as Scotto relayed.
Kuzma carries NBA career averages of 17.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists with the Wizards and Los Angeles Lakers.
