The Wizards have agreed to acquire Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie in a sign-and-trade deal that involves three other teams, per multiple reports, including ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Dinwiddie is expected to receive a three-year contract in the neighboorhood of $60 million.
The trade will also involve the Spurs, who are receiving small forward Chandler Hutchison from the Wizards. Meanwhile, the Nets will receive two second-round picks from Washington.
Once announced, it will end up being part of the trade that sends point guard Russell Westbrook from the Wizards to Lakers.
In exchange, the Wizards will receive small forward Kyle Kuzma,shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and forward/center Montrezl Harrell from the Lakers, a second-round pick in last week’s NBA draft that became G League Ignite forward Isaiah Todd, and point guard Aaron Holiday from the Pacers.
In other words, the Wizards have revamped their entire roster, teaming star guard Bradley Beal with the likes of Dinwiddie, Kuzma, Caldwell-Pope, Harrell and Holiday under new coach Wes Unseld Jr.
Dinwiddie, 28, is 6-foot-5 and averaged career-highs of 20.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in 64 games during the 2019-20 season. He missed all but the first few games last season after suffering a torn ACL.
Hutchison, 25, is 6-6 and averaged 4.3 points i 25 total games for the Bulls and Wizards last season.
