Wizards guard Trae Young was reevaluated this week and is making positive progress in his recovery from a right knee MCL sprain and quad contusion, the Wizards announced.

Young will begin ramping up on-court work, with another update expected in one week.

That is about as encouraging as things have been on that front.

Young, a four-time All-Star, has been limited to just 10 games this season, all with the Hawks before the trade to Washington. He has yet to make his Wizards debut, but based on the latest update, he is trending in the right direction.

The same cannot be said yet for Anthony Davis.

The Wizards said Davis, who is dealing with ligament damage in his left hand, is “progressing as expected” following a check-in over the All-Star break. However, he has not been cleared for basketball activities and will remain out at least two more weeks before being reevaluated.

Davis, a 10-time All-Star acquired in a deal with the Mavericks, has appeared in only 20 games this season due to a series of injuries. Like Young, he has not yet played for Washington.

Washington sits at 14-39, second-worst in the league, and continues to play the long game. Getting either player on the floor would change the look. Getting both still feels a ways off.
