The Wizards are expected to sign center Greg Monroe to a 10-day contract, according to Darren Wolfson of SKOR North.
Monroe is coming off a 10-day deal with the Timberwolves, but they opted not to re-sign him, Wolfson reported. He appeared in three games with the Timberwolves, compiling averages of 6.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
Monroe, 31, is 6-foot-11 and began the season with the G League’s Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards’ affiliate. He has nine years of NBA experience, including stints with the Pistons, Bucks, Raptors, Celtics, 76ers and Suns.
Prior to this season, he most recently played in the NBA in 2018-19, when he appeared in 43 games overall. He averaged 12.3 points and 9.0 rebounds with Capital City. He has also spent a season each in Germany and Russia.
The Wizards have six players on 10-day contracts at the moment, so they have about reached their limit with six players also in health and safety protocols.
“However, five of those six active 10-day deals will expire by Sunday, so the team could always terminate one of them a day or two early if necessary,” noted Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
