Point guard Yogi Ferrell is returning to NBA free agency, as he has asked to leave Greek club Panathinaikos, per Stavros Barbarousis of Eurohoops.
Of course, Ferrell may not be headed back to the NBA. As Barbarousis suggested, he could always be headed to a new international team.
Per Barbarousis, Ferrell requested his release “in order to find elsewhere more minutes and a different role.”
Ferrell, 28, is 6-foot-0 and signed a 10-day contract with the Clippers in April, followed by a multiyear standard deal. He appeared in eight games with LA, averaging 4.6 points and 2.1 assists during the regular season.
He also appeared in nine playoff games, though all came at the end of games when the outcome had already been decided. The Clippers then released Farrell on Sept. 6.
He has also spent time with the Cavaliers, Kings, Mavericks and Nets, so there is a decent chance he will again find a home in the NBA as a experienced reserve.
