The Suns are aiming to fill out the roster and add to their fearsome threesome of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and newcomer Bradley Beal, and it’s clear GM James Jones is staying aggressive in attempts to do so.
Per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, free agent forward Yuta Watanabe and point guard Mike James are among those on the Suns’ radar.
Watanabe, 28, spent last season with the Nets, appearing in 58 games and averaging 5.6 points on 49 percent shooting, including 44 percent on 3-pointers. All were career highs.
He has also spent time with the Grizzlies and Raptors since entering the NBA in 2018.
James, 32, spent last season with French club Monaco and as Stein noted, is close with Durant. James played for the Nets when Durant was there in 2021, averaging 7.7 points in 13 games. He also played for the Suns and Pelicans during the 2017-18 season. Mostly, James has spent his professional career starring in international leagues.
Along with the reported interest in Watanabe and James, the Suns are hosting a free agent workout that includes forwards Jabari Parker and Stanley Johnson, and guards Chasson Randle and Quinndary Weatherspoon, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT.
