The Philadelphia 76ers have signed forward Max Fielder, the team announced in a press release.
Per Austin Krell of USA Today, the contract is an Exhibit 10 training camp deal.
Fielder is 6-foot-10 and went undrafted out of Rice this past summer before signing on with the 76ers’ summer team in July. He appeared in two games in Las Vegas, averaging 2.0 points and 2.5 rebounds
As the Sixers revealed, Fielder made college basketball history by becoming the first player to record 1,000 career points, 1,000 rebounds, 500 assists, 100 blocks, and 100 steals.
“The Florida native ended his college career as Rice’s all-time leader in rebounds (1,144), assists (571), field-goal percentage (65.8%), games played (148), and games started (135), while ranking second in total blocked shots (125),” the Sixers’ release noted.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
- In related news, in case you missed it, the Sixers also officially signed French forward Guerschon Yabusele to a one-year deal earlier in the week. Yabusele, 28, is 6-8 and played 74 games for the Boston Celtics from 2017-18 to 2018-19. He carries NBA career averages of 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds over two seasons, both with the Celtics.
