Sixers Waive Pete Nance From Two-Way Contract

The Philadelphia 76ers have waived two-way power forward Pete Nance, the team announced in a press release.Pete Nance, Sixers, 76ers, NBA

Nance, the younger brother of Atlanta Hawks big man Larry Nance Jr. and an Akron native, had been with the Sixers for just over a month after joining the team following a stint with the Cleveland Charge, the Cavaliers’ G League affiliate.

During his time in Philadelphia, Nance appeared in one NBA game and five G League contests with the Delaware Blue Coats.

His performances in the G League were solid, averaging 17.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 blocks in 34.3 minutes per game. His shooting line of .500 from the field, .375 from three-point range, and .731 from the free-throw line showcased his all-around game.

While the 76ers have waived Nance, he remains under the Charge’s control should he choose to return to the G League. With the move, the Sixers now have one of three open two-way slots around the league.

As a note, contracts for two-way players become fully guaranteed if they remain with the team through January 7, which is why the Sixers are making the move now.

Nance will receive a prorated portion of his two-way salary for his time with Philadelphia, but it is clear his future with the organization has now come to a close — at least for the time being.

Pete, of course, is the son of Cavs legend Larry Nance. Larry Sr. played for the Cavs from 1987-94, with Larry Jr.’s run in Cleveland taking place from 2018-21.
