Jazz Brass ‘Surprised and Upset’ By Knicks Exec Worldwide Wes Sitting Courtside

Several members of the Jazz front office are “surprised and upset” that Knicks executive William Wesley sat courtside for Utah’s Game 1 showdown vs. the Mavericks in Dallas last week, per Ian Begley of SNY.tv.

Actually, Begley referred to those seemingly bothered as “prominent” members of the Jazz.

Wesley, known as Worldwide Wes, reportedly has been telling Knicks ownership that the team should pursue Jazz point guard Donovan Mitchell this offseason. Along with that, the Knicks haven been linked to Mavs guard Jalen Brunson.

“Brunson is set to become a restricted free agent this summer, who will certainly attract plenty of suitors due to his talent and explosiveness,” wrote Andrei de Guzman of TalkBasket. “Meanwhile, if the Jazz decides to do a major reconstruction after this season, they may consider Mitchell as a lucrative trade piece for a rebuild.”

Wesley was sitting courtside with Knicks power forward Julius Randle for the game. Randle is a Dallas native, so his presence was not a shocker. Wesley, however, raised some eyebrows.

“Will anything tangible come from Wesley’s presence – and the Jazz reaction to it? That’s obviously impossible to know at this point,” Begley wrote. “But it’s intriguing to note New York enters the initial stages of a pivotal offseason.
