Let’s hand it to the Inside the NBA crew. They know how to keep things fun in their final season.
No less than Shaquille O’Neal did just that when discussing the sprained toe injury that sidelined Cavaliers guard Darius Garland ahead of Game 3 vs. the host Miami Heat.
“Just rub some Icy Hot toe sauce on it,” O’Neal said on the set, which also included Charles Barkley and Jalen Rose.
O’Neal, of course, has been a longtime spokesman for Icy Hot, a medicated heat rub fior the skin.
As for the Cavs overall, Barkley believe they should make quick work of the series — but added that it won’t be easy.
“Coach (Erik) Spoelstra is so terrific. The Heat will be ready to pray,” Barkley said. ‘The Cavs will win the series, 4-0 or 4-1. But they will be tested.”
Cleveland has scored 121 points in each of the first two games, both at home, and both close at times. Garland is averaging 24.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 0.5 steals through two games against the Heat.
Garland made his second All-Star team this year. He averaged 20.6 points and 6.7 assists in the regular season while shooting 47.2% from the field, 40.1% from 3 and 87.8% from the foul line.
He was a game-time decision for Game 3 but was unable to go. Sam Merrill started in Garland’s place.
