Actor Ed O’Neill of “Married … with Children” fame is set to portray former Clippers owner Donald Sterling in an upcoming FX series entitled, “The Sterling Affairs,” as relayed by Deadline.
O’Neill, 76, is a native of Youngstown, Ohio, and has also starred in “Modern Family,” as well as played roles in multiple feature films.
Along with O’Neill, noted actor Laurence Fishburne will play a key role in “The Sterling Affairs” by portraying ex-Clippers coach Doc Rivers, now of the 76ers.
“The series tells the behind-the-scenes story of Rivers (Fishburne) and the Clippers’ quest to bring a championship to one of the historically worst franchises in all of sports during the impending downfall of the team’s owner, Sterling, whose notoriously racist behavior is brought to light amid the power struggle between his wife of 60-plus years, Shelly Sterling (Weaver), and his mistress, V. Stiviano,” Deadline wrote.
No release date has been announced for “The Sterling Affairs” as of yet. It will be a limited series, featuring six episodes in all.
