While Zach LaVine is sure to listen to offers from rival teams as a free agent this summer, he will likely to return to the Bulls when all is said and done, per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.
The Bulls are expected to offer a five-year contract of about $200 million, with the lone potential sticking point being the final year of the deal, Fischer reported. LaVine could get a player option, or the final year could be fully or partially guaranteed.
LaVine has already been lined to several rival teams, including the Spurs, Lakers, Hawks and Trail Blazers. Marc Stein of the Stein Line also reported that the Mavericks could seek a sign-and-trade centered on LaVine.
LaVine, 27, just completed his eighth season, compiling averages of 24.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 67 games. He has been an All-Star in each of the past two seasons.
League sources have told Hoops Wire that LaVine’s camp believes he is worth a maximum contract.
Either way, as Fischer wrote, “among the teams in play for LaVine, only San Antonio could offer a clear No. 1 playmaking opportunity, and the Spurs are considered far off from the postseason environment LaVine prefers, leading to skepticism among rival executives that LaVine ever wanted to entertain options outside of Chicago.”
