Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James could retire from the NBA after next season.

James, who turns 41 in December, will make $52.6 million next season in the final year of his contract.

According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, James wants a farewell tour, which he fully deserves since he’s one of the best players in NBA history.

“The one thing that I will say is that he is going, I believe, based on everything that I know about LeBron and all the conversations that I’ve had with people in his orbit, his general orbit, I believe that LeBron is going to make it known that he is going to retire before he retires,” Fedor said. “It’s not going to be a situation where he plays out the final year, and then in the offseason, he just retires.

“The sense that I get is LeBron wants it all. He wants the farewell tour. He wants all of these different franchises reliving all of his moments against them. He wants all of the glitz and the glam that comes with one of the greatest players, if not the greatest player of all time, calling it quits eventually.”

James has been in the NBA since 2003. He’s played for the Cleveland Cavaliers (twice), Miami Heat and Lakers. The Akron native is a four-time MVP, a four-time champion and a four-time Finals MVP.

James is the leading scorer in NBA history. He’s the only player to rank top five all-time in points and assists. James is fourth all-time in assists.

LeBron has career averages of 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists.
