NBC has given fans a clearer sense of what Michael Jordan will actually do as part of the network’s NBA comeback.

During Sunday Night Football, NBC teased Jordan’s appearance in a promo for Tuesday’s season-opening doubleheader, featuring a clip of Mike Tirico interviewing the Hall of Famer.

The network later confirmed that Jordan will appear in a recurring segment called MJ: Insights to Excellence, set to debut Tuesday night.

NBC says the feature will run throughout the season, with Jordan offering his perspective on the game and its players. It’s his first formal involvement with NBA coverage since retiring as a player two decades ago.

According to CNBC’s Alex Sherman, Jordan’s contributions will primarily be in taped segments airing during pregame or halftime shows.

Limited or not, his presence will draw plenty of attention — a rare public insight from a legend who’s mostly stayed silent since his playing days.
