Magic

Desmond Bane had missed all five of his threes and was sitting at 26 percent for the season when Orlando needed one more shot to beat Portland on Monday night.

He delivered the first game-winning buzzer-beater of his career, a twisting corner three over Toumani Camara to give the Magic a 115–112 win at the Kia Center.

“It was probably the best game winner I’ve seen here in the Kia Center,” Paolo Banchero said, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.

Bane finished with 22 points and said he hopes the moment helps settle him into his first season in Orlando.

“I just want to be a part of winning,” Bane said. “But I think moments like tonight really help you settle in to a new situation.”

Orlando traded four unprotected first-rounders, a pick swap, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony for Bane last summer in a win-now swing.

The Magic improved to 5–6 and closed it out in dramatic fashion after nearly losing a 13-point fourth-quarter lead.

Pistons

Cade Cunningham attempted 45 shots, scored 46 points and still had enough left to complete a 40-point triple-double in a 137–135 overtime win against Washington.

His 31 missed field goals were the most by any player in a single game since the 1960s.

Cunningham added 12 rebounds, 11 assists and five steals as Detroit won its seventh straight to move to 9–2.

Jalen Duren added 19 points and 14 rebounds while Daniss Jenkins scored 24.

CJ McCollum scored 42 for Washington, which fell to 1–10 and has dropped nine straight.

Hawks

Atlanta opened a four-game road trip with a 105–102 win against the Clippers behind a career-best 28 points from Vit Krejci off the bench.

He made eight threes, including the critical one that pushed the lead to 105–98 with 36 seconds left.

James Harden had 35 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for the Clippers in their fifth straight loss.

Kristaps Porzingis added 20 for Atlanta, and Jalen Johnson had 16 and 10. Trae Young (knee) remained out.
