The Cavaliers are adding point guard Raul Neto to what is believed to be a one-year contract, a move clearly designed to shore up their backup point guard spot as they wait for Ricky Rubio.
Rubio agreed to a three-year contract with Cleveland, as we relayed here, but he isn’t expected to be available until January after suffering a torn ACL last season.
Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first to report the news about Neto joining the Cavs.
Neto, 30, is 6-foot-1 and has spent each of the past two seasons with the Wizards, averaging 7.5 points and 3.1 assists last season, shooting 46 percent from the field. He as also spent time with the 76ers and Jazz.
Earlier Thursday, it was revealed the Cavs were also signing veteran center Robin Lopez on a one-year contract. You can read that full story here.
