The Pacers are keeping Jeremiah Robinson-Earl around a little longer.
Indiana announced Tuesday that it has signed the 25-year-old forward to a second 10-day contract after his initial deal expired overnight. Robinson-Earl appeared in five games during his first stint with the team, averaging 5.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in just over 17 minutes per game.
The 6-foot-8 Villanova product has struggled with his shooting touch so far, converting 32.3% of his attempts from the field, but has provided much-needed rebounding and frontcourt depth for a Pacers team short on healthy bodies.
Indiana remains without Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin and Obi Toppin, among others, leaving head coach Rick Carlisle little choice but to lean on temporary reinforcements.
Because of their extensive injury list, the Pacers were granted multiple hardship exceptions by the league, allowing them to temporarily exceed the 15-man roster limit. Cody Martin is also on a 10-day hardship deal.
Robinson-Earl’s new contract will run through November 20, covering five more games and paying him $141,463. He won’t be eligible to sign another 10-day with Indiana once this one expires, as players are limited to two such deals with the same team in a single season.
The Pacers are 1-8 amid their injury troubles and are expected to revisit the roster situation once they start getting players back later this month.
