Despite some speculation that the Pistons could pursue a win-now move ahead of the playoffs, league sources told Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints that such a shift is unlikely.
According to Siegel, Detroit is not expected to move any of its core players before the trade deadline. That group includes Tobias Harris, Jaden Ivey and Isaiah Stewart.
Harris’ inclusion stands out. The 33-year-old is the oldest player on the roster and is currently sidelined with a hip strain. He is also on an expiring $26.6 million contract.
Still, Detroit is said to value his veteran presence and on-court contributions as it pushes toward a postseason spot.
The Pistons have taken a more measured approach under president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon, preferring continuity over a short-term splash.
That philosophy appears unlikely to change unless the right opportunity presents itself.
If Detroit does revisit the idea of a significant move, Siegel identifies Trey Murphy III as a name to monitor. Langdon previously served as general manager in New Orleans and was part of the front office group that drafted Murphy.
