Kings

The Kings are hopeful that help is on the way. Three-time All-Star center Domantas Sabonis was a full participant in Thursday’s practice and could return as soon as Friday against Washington, per Sean Cunningham of KCRA News.

A league source told James Ham of The Kings Beat that Sabonis will be listed as questionable.

Sabonis has been out since November 16 with a partially torn meniscus in his left knee and has missed 27 games. Before the injury, he averaged 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

Sacramento remains well below .500, but is riding its first three-game winning streak of the season with victories over Houston, the Lakers, and New York.

Wizards

Wizards forward Cam Whitmore has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a blood clot in his right shoulder. The Wizards have applied for a disabled player exception, a league source told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Whitmore, acquired from Houston last offseason, averaged 9.2 points in 21 games. There is no indication that the condition threatens his career, as several current NBA players have successfully returned from similar diagnoses.

Timberwolves

The Timberwolves continue to make their case for stability. Minnesota owns the league’s best record since Thanksgiving and delivered a statement win Tuesday in Milwaukee despite missing Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards, writes Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Team sources say the Wolves are unlikely to chase high-priced stars at the deadline as they prioritize staying under the second tax apron. A smaller move for added depth on the wing or in the backcourt remains the more realistic option.
