The Hornets are considering a reunion with Kemba Walker, this time to add depth behind the likes of LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier.
Per Shams Charania of Stadium, Charlotte is thinking of bringing Walker back in free agency. At this point, it doesn’t seem as if they have a lot of competition.
Walker, 32, spent the first eight years of his career prior to a couple of seasons with the Celtics. He had a rocky run with the Knicks this past year, then was traded to the Pistons after the season.
Walker and Detroit agreed to a contract buyout earlier this month.
He actually was part of a draft-night trade that sent him from the Knicks to the Pistons — and also involved the Hornets.
Last season, he averaged 13.7 points in 37 games last season, though the Knicks shut him down at the end of the year.
“In February, the Knicks and Walker agreed that the four-time All-Star would be sidelined for the remainder of the season to allow him to work out in preparation for 2022-23,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski wrote. “Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau dropped Walker from the Knicks’ playing rotation in mid-November, and Walker also battled knee soreness in January.”
While Walker isn’t the same player as his first run with the Hornets, he could indeed offer some veteran know-how in reserve.
