Seth Curry seems to think Ben Simmons‘ game is plenty complete as is, via The Australian.
“I don’t think he needs a jump shot,’’ Curry said. “He’s just got to do what he does best – which is defend, rebound, push the ball, make plays for other people and attack the rim. “When you’ve got the size and talent like him, who takes not one but two and sometimes three guys to stop him getting to the rim, that is a lot in itself.’’
Simmons came to the Nets via the James Harden trade with the 76ers. He did not play a single minute last season. The Nets are more likely just hoping he gets in uniform than they are worrying about his perimeter shooting.
Curry, who also arrived via the Harden deal, has high hopes.
“(Simmons is) a multiple All-Star right now for a reason,’’ he said. “If he can add knocking down free throws at a higher clip, it’s going to allow him to be unstoppable once he puts his head down.’’
- In case you missed it, the Nets haven’t given up on the idea that Kevin Durant will rescind his trade request. Their first order of business, it seems, is finding out why Durant wants traded in the first place.
- If the Nets do trade Durant, it likely won’t be a deal that involves Raptors forward Scottie Barnes. The Raptors are refusing to include Barnes in any Durant deal, as we relayed here.
- Speaking of Simmons, it appears the Nets have no plans to try to trade him — even if they do move Durant and Kyrie Irving. For one, exploring Durant trades is difficult enough. The Nets have also had conversations with the Lakers about Irving. Plus, after sitting out all of last season, Simmons isn’t exactly a hot commodity at the moment.
