The Hornets have announced the coaching staff for Steve Clifford, who returns to the organization after four years away.
Leading the assistants will be Tyrone Corbin, the former NBA forward who once served as head coach of the Jazz and Magic, as relayed by Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer. Corbin, 59, also spent three seasons on Clifford’s coaching staff with the Magic, and has 16 years of coaching experience overall.
Others named to the Hornets’ staff: Bob Beyer, Rex Walters, Bruce Kreutzer and Brian O’Connor.
Beyer was an assistant with Clifford during Clifford’s first go-round with the Hornets. Beyer was last with the Pelicans (2020-21) as an assistant.
Walters was also an assistant with the Pelicans that season and has been an NBA assistant for 18 years, and Kruetzer was an assistant under Clifford with the Hornets from 2015-18.
Finally, O’Connor spent the past several years with Patrick Ewing at Georgetown University.
The Hornets are expected to open training camp in the final week of September. Clifford replaced former coach James Borrego, fired after the season.
