LeBron James took a moment on All-Star Sunday to zoom out.

At this stage of the career, that tends to happen.

The 21-time All-Star reflected on his journey, the Lakers’ uneven season, and what comes next — with a noticeable pause when the conversation turned to his longtime peers Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, as Joaquin Ruiz of NBC Sports relayed.

“It’s always a pleasure and an honor to see those guys,” James said. “When it comes to me, Steph, and KD, we’ll be interlocked for the rest of our careers, for sure.”

Curry didn’t play in the All-Star Game due to a knee injury, but James and Durant helped push their squad to the championship round, where they fell to the younger American group led by Anthony Edwards.

When the focus shifted back to the Lakers, James struck a familiar tone: cautious, honest, and realistic.

“This is a new group,” he said. “When we’ve played our best basketball, we’ve looked really good. When we’ve been terrible, we’ve looked disgusting.”

That, he said, is what the regular season is for — building chemistry, getting healthy, and figuring out how pieces fit. James added that integrating Luke Kennard and getting consistent minutes together will matter far more than projecting ceilings right now.

As for 2026-27?

Still no answers.

“When I know, you guys will know,” James said. “I don’t know. I have no idea. I just want to live.”
